“Headshots” are for people who play first-person shooter video games. Organizations should be displaying “Bio Profile Pics.”

A Biographical Profile Picture is more on-par with what’s done in newspaper or magazine stories on individuals.  This helps organizations not only highlight the individuals that work for them in a unique way, but it also displays the workspace of the organization as their backdrop.

There are several value-added features to this type of photo, first being the addition of new profile photos will not date or look out of place with the existing photos. White backdrop photos are standard, but a photographers light can vary from shoot to shoot and it can create a more obvious miss-match.  As an added bonus this type of image is great for improving the brand of the organization if the individual uses it outside of the company’s marketing and cuts down on the chances of the image being used by employees if they move on from your organization.
